Updated Hair Care Routine
Hello hello! I’m sure everyone is tired of hearing me say I haven’t posted in a while because of health issues/life complications, but here we are again. Hopefully, I am on a good track now and will be posting weekly without fail! At least that’s the goal.
Today I come to you with a little beauty post! I haven’t done one of these in a while and have quite a few on my list coming up for various events and whatnot, but felt like going over my everyday hair care routine and the products and tools I use seemed like a great place to start!
Let’s start with the cut and color! These are the two things I pay someone else to do (obviously) and I currently have a wonderful stylist who has given me my current cut that I love so much and a really pretty, natural balayage.
Color- I get very natural and basic balayage. I used to go very crazy with my hair color but after I went red and then had to dye it all the way back to my natural color (about an 8-month process) and my hair was so fried and gross. I really do not want that feeling again or want to deal with the upkeep so I ask for golden/honey-toned balayage, and I ask to keep it away from my roots so it can grow out naturally. My goal with my color is always for it to look like I have just spent a lot of time in the sun and my hair just naturally has gotten lighter. And because I do not get it all the way up to my root I can let it go out for a pretty long time, and really only do the color once every 6 months or so. This is my way of getting a little bit lighter without having to have too much upkeep and deal with it too often. We love low maintenance over here.
Cut- I have long layers while I grow out my hair, and I have curtain bangs! Every time I go in for a trim, we add a few more layers to keep the shape nice and not too heavy, but the main layers are all right around my face to frame it and give it some shape as well. I get a trim about every 8 weeks, and get my bangs trimmed about 4 weeks. My stylist is awesome because I get free bang trims and don’t have to figure out how to do them on my own which is perfect.
Shampoo and Conditioner- I wash my hair every other day, or every 2 days if I am especially exhausted. I use the Dae Signature shampoo and conditioner and it is my absolute favorite I have used in a long time. It really helps balance out my scalp and helps it be less oily, but the conditioner adds all the moisture back in that the bleach gets rid of. These are perfect if you have combination hair that is pretty oily but also somehow dry (which is me). And then once a week I use the Ouai apple cider vinegar shampoo to really get in there and clarify my scalp.
Treatments- The only treatment I really use is the Olaplex number 3 mask once or twice a week. I will leave this in as long as I can stand to have my hair up and it always feels so soft and silky and way less frizzy after I use it. Truly a godsend for those of us who bleach our hair, even a little bit. I am interested in the K18 hair mask though, so stay tuned for that!
Styling- When it comes to styling I keep it pretty easy. As far as products, I use the Olaplex number 7 bonding oil as heat protection before I use any tools, and then I will also use it over the top once I have styled it. I really wanna try the Dae cactus fruit styling cream, but I have yet to order it. (If you follow me on Tik Tok I will post a review once I get my hands on it). If I am going a few days between washes then I use this R&Co dry shampoo. This stuff is my absolute favorite and I cannot get enough. Without this dry shampoo, I would be a greasy mess 90% of the time. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy or hard in the way that some others have in the past. When it comes to styling tools, I have 3 things in my arsenal that I use; my flatiron, my round blow dry brush, and my regular blow dryer. I mainly use my Chi flat iron for curling and waving my hair these days, and not actual straightening. It also seems as if my flat iron is so old that this was the closest thing I could link for it even though this is much cooler than mine. If I was a straight look I go with my Revlon blow dryer brush. I have definitely not perfected my look with this guy yet, but the process is slowly coming along, and looks a little better every time I do it! I currently am using a non-descript, mini blow dryer I borrowed from my mom for my bangs because my full-size one finally died after about 8 years. However, since I just use it for my bangs I really am not that worried about it.
Well there you have it, a master post of all my hair care items and why I like them! It’s nothing too over the top because I am a low-maintenance hair gal, but I have really fallen in love with my current cut and styling and decided to share since it has been a while since I posted any hair care! I hope you all enjoyed it, and I will see you next week!:)
