Updated Skincare Routine
Welcome back, everyone! Apologies for being so inconsistent with blog posts these past couple of weeks, things have been busy and I have been EXHAUSTED. Doing blog work and then also working in retail has accumulated to about 70 hours of work per week, which I sometimes I handle very well because I can do blog work from bed, but other times I handle poorly like last week and this week. But! This week I have two posts for you they are just coming a little later than I wanted, and hopefully, by next week I am back on track.
Now on to the post!
Before I dive into the products I have been loving lately, I want to give a brief overview of my skin. I have combination skin, which basically means that some places on my face are oily and some are dry which makes it really hard to care for. In the past few years, my skin has also become more sensitive than it already was, and has become incredibly acne-prone. Through a lot of trial and error, I have found some things that make it so much better and easier to manage! I am not a dermatologist by any stretch, and there is nothing that says these products will work for you, but it never hurts to share what has worked for me!
Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum- Hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient whenever you need some extra moisture in your skin. I feel like most of us know about this already, but in case you don’t know what it does, it draws in moisture from the air around you and helps whatever moisturizer you’re wearing have better effects and be moisturizing longer. It’s truly a lifesaver especially when I have combination skin and too rich of cream can really break me out, but I still need lots of moisture. I put it on every morning before I put on my moisturizer or sunscreen. This one is nothing super special in the formula (it’s just hyaluronic acid and vitamins) but it is only $6! Can you believe that???? That is one reason I absolutely love this brand.
Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Serum- This thing is the best thing to ever happen to my skin. I have never used exfoliating elements before because I do tend to have pretty sensitive skin and every exfoliant I have ever used gives me a breakout or hives. But! This chemical exfoliant serum has done the trick with no side effects! You can use it up to three times a week, but since my skin is so sensitive I still only use it once a week and that is plenty. I wash my face at night, then put this on, then my moisturizer over it and the next morning I wake up with such soft and smooth-looking skin. After one month of using this, my skin texture has drastically improved, and the longer I use it, the better it gets. It has also helped to fade my acne scars, which has been a nice benefit. This is not branded as a sensitive skin product, but it is the only exfoliant I have ever used with my sensitive skin that has worked.
Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Day Cream- This is my holy grail moisturizer. I have been using this for over a year now and I cannot imagine not using it. It is the perfect amount of rich moisture that my skin needs, without making it greasy and breaking it out. I am currently testing out a summer daytime moisturizer because I have noticed in the summer I can get a little oily for this one during the day, but I will always use it at night. It really has been the best cream and makes my skin so incredibly soft.
Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser- This was another game-changer product for me. I have sensitive skin, but still need something to clean out my pores and give me clean skin. This was that cleanser! It cleanses so well but does not over-dry or irritate. I only use it at night because my skin is weird and doesn’t like to be washed more than once a day, no matter the cleanser, but I have noticed way fewer breakouts and clogged pores since I started using it. It really is a powerhouse cleanser.
Glossier Mask Duo- If you watched my latest YouTube video (this one here) you will see me talk about and use these guys, but these babies really started my love for skincare. I use them once a week, in conjunction with each other, and can tell the next morning all the good it does for my skin. The detox mask really draws out the excess oils and pollution from day-to-day life, and the moisture mask helps soothe and replenish for a whole week. After using this duo, my skin is much less dull and feels AMAZING! If I have been traveling or even wearing a lot of makeup, I will do it twice a week to get my skin back to its happy place. Seriously a skin-saving duo right here.
Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen- If you are not wearing sunscreen on your face every day, the rest of your skincare doesn’t matter. It just doesn’t. All the repair from your other products on undone in 15 minutes in the sun if you don’t wear sunscreen daily, and no, you can’t just use the sunscreen in your foundation. Not only will a daily sunscreen help prevent early aging and sun spot damage, but it also protects against skin cancer which is incredibly important. My favorite is this Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen. I absolutely love this stuff. I put it on after my moisturizer every morning for everyday wear, and then carry it with me so I can re-apply throughout the day. Since it’s clear and feels like you aren’t rubbing anything on your face, you can re-apply over your makeup without it looking greasy or smearing it. There is no white cast at all, and for someone with acne-prone skin, this hasn’t negatively affected me once. I’ve been using it for 3 months now and still love it! The price point feels steep for the size of the bottle, but even using the amount you are supposed to, and re-applying throughout the day, I still have about half of the bottle left. So it really is worth it!
Algenist Eye Renewal Balm- Last but not least, eye cream! I have tested out several eye creams and felt like they really did not do anything to my under-eye area. But, I got this guy in a Fab Fit Fun box in December and have been using it since and I actually see a difference! It is 100% helping my fine lines around my eyes and making my crow’s feet smaller! Plus, I get really dry under my eyes in the winter and this solved that problem completely. Since it is a balm, a little goes a long way, and I am definitely thinking of repurchasing once my jar is out, even though it is a pretty steep price point.
Well, that is all for today folks! Thanks for making it through this post, I hope you found something new you want to try and see how it goes! All of these products are cruelty-free and vegan, and Super Goop is a reef-safe company!
See you guys tomorrow!
